i finally did it!

i took penn for professional pics today and she was sort of whiny and unccooperative. didnt want to smile, screamed during the tummy shots and demanded a feeding during outfit changes. but.. she slept for four hours when we got home and now hasnt stopped smiling since...and i actually got it all on camera! napping on my boppy...

big girl bed!

penelope has been in her big girl bed for about ten days now and is doing great... she has pretty much decided that she will sleep in there between the hours of ten pm and 5 am.  after that - not going to happen.  but she does well in that time - gets up 2 times during then and is up for fivish for good.    no luck getting her to nap in there or sleep any earlier than ten... but oveall we are happy so far.  i think she believes that she can only be in bed when it's light out.  below are some pics of when i tried to get her to nap in there yesterday and she refused.  however, she was pretty happy i came and got her and she did a little dancing around to show how much she likes her big bed!  so much more leg room than that cramped bassinet :)

penelope learned how to smile last week - and it's the most gorgeous thing you have ever seen.  i have yet to get a good a picture, but whne she was "chatting" with kris this am i ran and got the video camera in time to capture some of those amazing gummy smiles.  cutest thing you've ever seen.

gatsbys new bed

we got a big new comfy dog bed for gatsby but penelope decided to check it out first...  she was super fussy last night and wouldnt stop crying - just kept throwing fit after fit.  so we thought we'd try the dog bed... seems to be just what she needed!

it's 4:45 in the morning, penn is up for the 3rd time since 10pm. i'm tired, crabby and just want to feed her and get back to bed. i look down to put the bottle in her mouth and she looks right at me and gives me the biggest gummiest smile i've ever seen. then does about 3 more for good measure... you've won this round penelope. well played my dear, well played..

well the prune juice in the bottles worked... maybe a bit too well. penelope has been "exploding" today - she is now bathed, fed (prune juice free) and tucked in bed in outfit number 4. after she had a record breaking poop with Grandma H - she looks pretty content :)

7 week dr. visit!

miss penelope had her 2 month dr. visit today - a little bit early as she is seven weeks tomorrow... and boy did this little girl grow! she is now 9 lbs 5 ozs... not such a little peanut anymore!! she is the 30th percentile now for weight (up from 14 at 2 weeks). and she is 22 inches long (now the 60th percentile - she's tall!) and her head is up from the 4th to the 7th :) still a little head :) but big brains in there! she did great today - but it was harder for mommy ithink. vaccines today - three shots and one oral - which she loved by the way... she kept rooting for more of the oral vaccine and smacking her lips.. .she may have been crying less abotu the shots and more about wanting more to eat! dr said everything looks great. she is growing well, trending up and her head shape looks good. we are going to keep doing her tummy time and keeping working on her potty problme.. poor little girl still has some trouble with that... but damn she works hard! we are now putting some prune juice with her formula and using the gentleease enfamil instead of the soy similac. we will see how that goes... i wanted to put little bits in something today that wouldnt be tight on her sore little legs where she had the shots and all her dresses have those little bloomers that hit right there. so i found this outfit that i got her at baby gap forever ago... like i was maybe 20 weeks pregnant - and it finally fits... sort of... she is making her sister lizzie proud - rocking a onesie jumper :) our next visit isnt until 4 months - when she gets more shots and will maybe even be ready for some rice cereal. how crazy. by the next visit she will be holding her head, starting to roll over, sit up and almost ready to start real food... so much will be happening! it's crazy.... time is going way too fast...

bathtime tonight for penelope... now she loves them. as long as she is totally covered by wet rags/towels... is there anything cuter than a baby in a hooded towel?

my favorite babysitter

sometimes i ask gatsby to baby sit penelope.... and sometimes his tail bugs the crap out of her... she swats it away... this one is a bit blurry but you get the picture.

don't worry mom - i got this under control. she is sound asleep and i'm keeping guard.

we are working on tummy time lately for penelope to work on those neck muscles. she is not a fan - judging by the sad defeated look on her face...
