my little girl turned three on Monday. three years old. officially a little kid, not even really a toddler anymore. a little girl with opinions (lots of them), thoughts (which she often shares), a preschooler. a little girl who tells the best stories, has the craziest imagination, makes up games and songs all day long, and who has the vocabulary (and attitude) of a thirteen year old.
a girl who is funny. like really funny. with incredible timing. a girl who talks a mile a minute and whose brain works so fast that sometimes her little mouth cant' keep up. a girl who loves the color pink, her best friend payton, who still carries pink puppy everyone, but is suddenly interested in jewelry and makeup and twirling dresses.
you are this incredible mix of toddler/big girl. you get your feelings hurt easily, especially when mommy gets mad at you. and when you cry you look just like you did as a baby. but you turn sassy in an instant and the looks you give shoot me forward 10 years down the road and terrify the crap out of us :)
penelope is no longer in daycare at susie's house, she officially in real 3 yr old preschool. she goes four days a week (M/T/R/F) with a break on Wednesdays for what we call "grandma day". she sees grandma h in the am and grandma d in the afternoon/evening.
she is all kid and all girl. incredible sassy, defiant at times, unbelievably smart and just plain amazing.
and she is gorgeous. I know i'm her mother but god that kid is beautiful. those big eyes, perfect little skin color and adorable curly heair make for one beautiful child. we are in for trouble with this one.
and for how difficult she can be most fo the time, she really is a good girl. she behaves in public, enjoys (and is good) at dinner and/or shopping trips, listens (most of the time), is very polite and has a huge heart. she is very loving and tells me several times a day that i'm her favortie mom and how much she loves me. she loves to take care of people who are sick and often tells me "it's alright, i'm right here... i'll always be right here"
she's an amazing big cousin who loves spending time with calvin and logan. she helps feed logan, get him toys and always gently touching his face, or leaning over to kiss him.
and she is about to become the worlds' most perfect big sister. she already loves her baby sister so much and has been amazing during my pregnancy. she was great when i was sick for the first few months and even now brings me my heartburn meds. but the best is when she leans over my belly to talk to her sister. she kisses, hugs her, tells her she loves her and always calls her "litte rascal". she likes to talk about the things she is going to teach her big sister and all the ways she is going to help mommy. i can't wait to see her in this new role.
but most of all, i can't wait to see what the next year brings for my beautiful little three year old girl. spirited doesnt even begin to describe penny so I'm sure we are in for our share of challenges, but it definately promises to be an entertaining year.
your mommy and daddy love you more than you could ever know penelope anne and we are soo proud of the little lady you are becoming. you make us laugh every day and make me smile countless times. one minute you can still look like the little baby i remember and then another i look at you and can't even believe that this little girl who seems so grown up and so perfect is mine.
you will always be our baby girl, our first child and the little angel who first gave your daddy and I pleasure of being parents. you are our perfect girl and we love you to the moon and back beautiful.
