we finally got the cd of prints from the hospital of miss penelopes first few days - sooo cute! there are too many to post them all - but here are a few of my favorites!

2 week appt

we had our 2 week dr appt today and penelope looks fantastic! dr. was very pleased. she is now exactly 7 lbs, 20 1/4 inches long and perfect :)

first outing!

we had our first outing on saturday to go to lizzie's graduation party... just for mom and dad to stop by for 1.5 hours itt was a 6 hour event... it was too hot and too many people to bring ms penelope so she stayed with grandma and grandpa h for her first babysitting. we had a bit of a hard tie leaving her but she did fantasic - was definately readyt o eat when mom got back though!

well we werent sure how the gatsby and penn introductin would go - but it realy couldnt be any better. he loves her soo much. if penn is in the room - gatsby is there. when she cries, he comes running. when he goes outside - first thing he does when he gets back in is find her and check on her. he's also very cautious when other people besides kris or myself touch her. he likes to keep a very close eye on her. it's kind of nice - cuz he's exhausted toto - wearing himself out with all the babysitting...

my favorite are the pics of him watching her while she is in her bouncy seat -so sweet...

my friend darci from work came over on friday and did a photo shoot of ms penelope in her brand new tutu from aunt flo/uncle joe and her new yellow bow from darci - and oh my goodness the child looks adorable... here are a few of the best shoots of her... i'll post the ones of mom/dad in a seperate post...

first dr visit!

we had our first dr visit on june 9th and you were perfect. when we left the hospital your weight was down to 6 lbs 2 oz - which is normal to happen and then by wednesdeay you were up to 6'8 - you were doing great! all healthy - you even peed on the dr. and on your pretty dress that aunt kori bought you. but you looked pretty in it while it lasted :)

Going Home!

we went home from the hospital on monday, june 7th and mom and dad were as ready as were going to be! some pics are attached of you in your going home outfit and in your carseat - you look soo tiny! we had trouble finding you an outfit too - you are so tiny! a bit too long for premie and too small for newborn - our tiny little girl :) everyone says you look just like daddy - but i see some of me in you ... either way - perfect. when we got home uncle jeff and aunt christa has decorated the house for your homecoming and aunt kori had cleaned - was a wonderfully nice surprise. aunt lizzie brought home your big brother so he was ready to meet you! more pics/vidoe of you and big brother gatsby coming soon :)

Hospital Stay

wanted to post a few pics from our stay at st. johns. since you were born on thursday evening and mom had a c-section, we were able to stay there until monday morning- and we needed every second of the stay. was filled with ups/downs, lots of visitors and lots of love for the most gorgeous girl in the world. all of our friends and family came to see you and of course a million doctors and nurses - all of whom were fantastic. you were a bit jaundice and we had some trials with feeding at first - but overall you were perfect and healthy. you were barely full term at 37 weeks but needed no special care at all. here are a few pics of your first days in the hospital...

Happy Birthday Penelope!

well we finally did it! penelope anne hoffman has made her arrival - and needless to say things have been a bit crazy since we welcomed this gorgeous girl into our lives. sorry for the blog delay! well ms penelope you finally arrived on june 3, 2010 at 7:23 pm. weighing in at a perfect 6 lbs 10 oz and 19 1/2 inches long and looking so incredibly beautiful. was definetely an eventful day. we went in the am for our amnio to make sure your little lungs were ready to go and of course we had to do it twice because - shocker - you were "uncooperative." - you little stinker. but all was well so they sent us up to labor and delivery!

we started the induction with pitocin around 1:00pm and started moving very very slowly. mom only made it to about 2 cms before ms penn started drama again. i had a full placental abruption (partial is what we had in april and put us on bed rest for 7 weeks). this was a lot worse - happened about 6:45 and things got crazy. from there they did an emergency c section and stopped the traditional labor. mom bleed a lot but baby penn looked healthy the whole time. dr. laue arrived asap, mom got an epidural and we had the c section and penelope was out all by 7:23 - quick! was scary, painful, terrifying and then suddenly amazing. and then you were here :) i have lots of catching up to do on this blog to talk about your first week - but wanted to at least let the world know you had arrived and post some early baby pictures of the most beautiful angel in the world. dad and i are so proud and so happy to finally be able to hold you and know you are safe and healthy.... we have to thank dr. laue for keeping you so perfectly healthy - looks like bedrest was the right choice and all worked out so well in the end. and every second was more than worth it. you are amazing penelope anne. we love you so much.

is today the day?

well ms penelope - today could be your birthday... mom and dad are getting ready this morning - with just a bit of anxiety! we head to st. johns in about an hour and by lunchtime we'll know if you are ready to come out and join us! so today is scary for several reasons... first if your little lungs are not ready - then we'll be worried about you and back on bed rest for another week or so - which is getting harder by the hour to do.
and second - if you are ready to go - which we are praying for... then holy moly we are having a baby today! try not to hurt mommy too bad :) and happy birthday baby (maybe). we love you! hurry up with those lungs - make em nice and strong!!!

change of plans... again

well ms penelope - as usual any plans we make in regards to meeting you are always changing... i was hoping you'd be moms bday buddy today, but it doesnt look like that is going to be happening! dr. laue called yesterday and her and the hi risk docs at st johns want to do an amnio tomorrow and checkt o make sure your little lungs are fully mature and ready for the outside world. if they are - then we will induce tomorrow and hopeuflly you'll be joining us out here!!! which would be amazing! if not - mom will head back to the couch for another week - which will not be an easy thign as we've been wrapping your heads around 37 weeks for the past 2 months - but obviously - most importnatn thing is that you are a happy, healthy little girl...
so - get those lungs ready little lady - becuase mom and dad need to be meet their beautiful little penelope asap!
