magic house

well we finally activated my latest groupon purchase and hit up the magic house this weekend.  only stayed for about an hour and a half - which is exactly why I got the groupon.  now we can go for shorter periods of time and not feel cheated.  if i paid the entry price of $9 a person - i'd want to stay longer than an hour for $27!

penny did great... we mainly played in the kiddie area "a littel bit of magic" but also hung out in the front entrance and then in the alice in wonderland exhibit.  most of it was sort of just a lot to take in so in many of the videos below is just sort of awestruck and staring.  but was in a great mood the whole time, felt pretty independant and did a lot of exploring.. can't wait to go again :)

I sent this picture to lisa - she responded by offering a trade... she'll take gatsby again if we'll take her baby for the first three months.. sorry lisa - no deal :)

mommy penny

so penny has always loved her stuffed animals and is lately into to rocking them, and singing to them. so i've been dying to get her a real baby doll. she has a soft cabbage patch doll from xmas but I wanted to get her a real baby with a bottle, stroller etc.

a random walmart clearance on tuesday afternoon and mission accomplished.

i brought her baby doll which came with a jogging stroller, baby (wiht eyse that open and close) and a diaper bag including bottles, powder, wipes and rattle.

she immedately went crazy for the doll while we started building the stroller.  well stroller building was going to slow so penny took the partially built stroller (no wheels) and put baby in it - ready to walk.  when daddy took it away to add the wheels - all hell broke loose.

that was enough to send her over the edge - apparenlty her baby really needed a walk.  she started doing the silent crying because she was so upset.  cried so hard she wasnt breathing... and kept not breathing.. turning blue, then purple, then i freaked.  starting yelling, "kris she's not breathing, she's blue, oh crap"  he yells "pick her up and shake her" and i decide to sort of punch her in the belly. not sure why - but it worked.  you do weird things when terrified.  

this must have broke loose teh scream - but she become vocal about her tantrum, which went until baby and stroller were both in her hands again.

suddenly - all was right in penny's world.  tantrum forgetton, and baby love started.

god she loves that doll.  she pushes it all over the house, stopping to hug it and kiss it and fix how it's laying in the storller.

she either carries the diaper bag or puts it on the stroller -she gives baby her bottle, rattle and paci.  even thought about sharing pink puppy but quickly changed her mind and then sort of hid it from the baby.

she protects baby from gatsby. he can not go near baby or will get hit by penny while she yells, "nonononononono"

she always puts baby to bed.  she rocks it in a circle, sings "lalala", then lays baby on her chair, gives bottle, covers with a blanking and says "nite nite" and waves.

this is what we've had to do for baby past 2 nights before penny will eat dinner or go to bed herself.

it's amazing htat after such a crazy tantrum, she appears to be such a loving little mommy.

it's pretty much the cutest thing ever.

i think we have a toddler...

well i think we have officially have a toddler.  Based on the tantrums, mood swings and constant ability to injure herself (which she always blames on me of course).

 

wow - it's exhausting.

i feel like she is an emotional ball of crazy.  we go from absurdly happy over soemting as silly as touching gatsby's tail.. to hysterically crying over breaking chalk.

 

and the injuries!  in the past week alone, we've had the following:

• fell off of chair onto her back at Yo My Goodness (fro-yo)
• cut her finger (still not sure how)
• fell into corner of cabinet (during a tantrum - over chalk mentioned above)
• big lip/cut tongue after falling off chair at home
• almost passed out after crying over dolly and stroller - turned blue/purple - eyse starting to roll back.

this kid is nuts.

welcome to toddlerhood.

i'm going to need to drink more.

all about penelope - 14 month update and some other stuff

i know it's been awhile since I've posted, been kind of crazy lately.   we just moved into our new house and spent all of last week getting organized, then this weekend we had our first visitors with uncle kevin, aunt lisa and mango, and the return of gatsby man!

it's strange to have a dog in the house again... but we missed him so much. penny is in heaven.  she is in LOVE with all dogs and either she remembers gatsby or ust loves to have a dog around but she hastn been happier.

in genera.l she seems to really love her new house and is a huge fan of having space!  and carpet.  she wanders around a lot and if she gets bored she just heads into a different room.  we often find her laying on the ground in the front room that is still sort of empty just laying on the carept in her signature penelope "hands behind her head" pose.

love that kid.

a  few other penny updates...

we are seeing an ENT next month to discuss tubes.  she's been having trouble with ear infections since about four months old and having a  lot o trouble lately with fluid in her ears.  It just doesnt seemt o want to drain... so she has been a little off balance and also walking around with her finger in ears trying to get that fluid feeling to go away - poor baby. 

however, even with the fluid she has really been talking a lot lately.  I udnersatnd a lot of the words, but not sure how many other people really do.  let's see.. some of her main words, "daddy" "dog" "up" "bubbles" "night night" "mommy" "mama" "dad" i love when she just says "dad" - sounds so old.

also been saying "nonononono" lately and shaking her head.  it's actually kind of helpful.  when she is reaching or yelling for osmehting and you dont have a clue what she wants, she at least tells you what she DOESNT want :)

i guess i must say "dont touch it" a lot because lately she also started saying "touch it".  pretty cute when she wants something.

although "touch it" usually mean grabs it, eat it, put in my mouht, throw it, or break it.

she also also become quite the little monkey lately!  climbing all over the the place.   i think she really watches big kids a lot and is now trying to be like them :)  we had a play date the other day with some friends of mine and she saw the kids sit on the ottoman to watch tv.

lately that day, i left the room, came back and found little miss penelope sittingo n the ottoman watching tv. 

little copycat.  she copies other things too.  animal sounds, waving, blowing kisses, making clicking noises with your mouth tongue, and sticking out yyour tongue.

if any of those things she thinks are particularly awesome, she will clap for herself and insist you clap too.  basically anytime someone says "yaahhh" she claps.

and if you dont do what she wants now she doe sit for you.  if she wants you to clap - she'll move your hands.  if she wants you to open something for her - she puts it in your hand.  if she wants to sit in your lap, she'll back into lap, and put your hands up on her legs.

i like a girl that gets what she wants :)

she still eats liek a champ and has a sweet tooth like her daddy.  right now it's donuts and grandma d's pumpkin cookies.

she also typically likes men more than women.  which is strange.  her favorite man is always her daddy but this weekend uncle kevin and uncle mark were close seconds.

she sepnt a lot of time tickling uncle kevin, wrestling with him and just cuddling up to him.  watned to sit on his lap a lot and run to hug him.

and when uncle mark came over last night she reached for him and practically crawled into his arms.  when he set her down, she cried utnil he sat by her.

still a bit of a princess around other women - but bring a man around and she's his best friend :)

this girl is going to be trouble.

i'm trying to think... there is so much more to report... i'll be surprised if anyone is reading this anymore, but this updates are actually mianly for me as a online baby book so sorry if this is boring to everyone but the grandparents :)

let's see... other things penny loves... chairs. all chairs, wants to sit in them and climb on them. or "touch it" as she has been saying.  grocery shopping - she seems to really love the grocery store - especially on free smaple days. i'll have to take her to sams on a saturday - she'll think she's in heaven.  mommy loves it too :)  she loves playing with toys - stuffed animals a lot lately and her farmers.

she likes to rock her babies and feed them milk and then sing to them.  she sways and holds baby (usally by the leg) and sings lalalalala.

i have to get her one of those little babies that comes with a bottle, food, stroller - she'll love it :)

and dress up.  the kid loves stuff on her head.  hats, ribbons, anything.  also wants to dress up.  loves sunglasses and will wear them forever. 

also very into balls and kicking them.  starting to try and say "kick it"

god there is so much more to this little stinker - she's a complex little thing already at 14 months but god she is awesome.

her mommy and daddy just love her so much :)
