pony rides!!

We went to the wildwood founders day festival yesterday with tim, larissa, and their girls claire and genevieve.  penelope had a blast and really hit it off with claire.  claire will be next month, so there is a pretty big age difference but penny LOVES to spend time with older girls -so she just pretty much followed claire... i love these picks of them, they look like party pics from a sorority event :)

 

 

penny also had her first taste of cotton candy... it was a HIT!

 

 

 

they were soo good and waited patiently in line for over an hour for penny's favorite thing in the world - pony rides!

 

not a lot of great pics, but i do have a video. penny and genevieve rode and both loved it!

 

 

 

then it was penny/claire time again, poor evie got the boot from her own stroller!

 

 

overall was a great monring/afternoon, followed by a great nap for both penny and mommy :)

first week of preschool!

there have been a few tears in (and out of) our house this week as little miss penelope started preschool!

 

it's a 2 yr old preschool so I'm not throwing her in with all the big dogs yet, but she is def the youngest.  basically it's a class for kids that were not three before the 1 July Parkway cutoff.  As penelope was just barely 2 by then, she is clearly the baby of the group.

 

but she is doing great! a few tears when daddy dropped her off, but overall doing fantastci.

 

she plays well and interacts soo godo with all the kids - so i think this is a good change!

 

with good, comes bad as well... we have picked up a few new phrases, habits of course colds.

 

the new things this week:

 

phrase: you got it sister!

 

threat: i'm gonna hit you!

 

sickness: stuffy nose.

 

sounds about right in week one of preschool.

 

she is also talking more and more about not liking people or things.

 

for example, while I was watchign Craft Wars on TV, penelope would point at the TV everytime Tori Spelling came on and say "I no like you."

 

can't say i disagree wtih her.

big girl swing

so penny went to visit preschool for a meet the teacher and playground day last week.. first real day is tomorrow.

lord knows i'm going to be a mess.

i almost lost it on friday when she did this....

geez penny.  what the heck. big girl school = big girl swing?

suson park

we took advantage of the AMAZING weather this past week and went to suson park for a lovely morning of sunshine, playgrounds and of course, animals!

all the animals were putting on quite the show today... baby cows eating, roosters cockadoodling, baby goats fighting and donkeys eager for petting.

and one very happy penelope.

she was so good all day we decided to press out luck and take her to the antique store down the street.  kids with antiques might seem stupid, but armed with pretzels and fun fruits she was an angel :)

baby cow?

i love my neighborhood.  Tuesday night we went up to the pool for national night out.  there was a petting zoo for the kids (all with baby animals), ice cream truck with free goodies, smoothies from smoothie king, dj, games, bbq, pool party - just tons of fun,

with little miss ear infection, we avoided the actual water but penelope LOVED the petting zoo. her and her buddy peyton just walked all over to visit the baby animals including: calf, piglet, camel, goats, llamas, turtle, chicken, donkey, sheep, bunnies.  all in all - her heaven.  (and her dad was pretty into the baby pig... that thing was precious).

I was talking to penny at bedtime about the animals she saw, asking "did you see a baby goat?", etc.

when i asked, "did you see a baby cow"

she responded (like i was an idiot): "my baby cousin not there".

took me a minute.

the way penny say's calvin is "cowbin".

and she always adds "baby" before his name.

so clearly, i must have been talking about her baby cousin, and how silly was I to think he was there.  she went on to tell me he lives far away, have to take an airplane, etc.  Basically making very clear that i'm an idiot :)

maybe one day she'll get your name right buddy...

poor baby

we've had a rough couple of a days with a sick little girl.  penelope has three, that's right - three, ear infections all in one ear.  she's had single ear infections, single in both ears at once, double ear infections, even double ears in both, but never a TRIPLE.

turns out dr hadn't seen it either. She has an inner ear, middle ear and outer ear all together.  so needless to say, she has not been a happy girl.  thank goodness for the tubes surgery we did in october. makes for a messy bunch of drainage, but at least that's not in her ear - she would have been inconsolable iwth that pressure.

she has been a pretty good girl through it... except at naptime, bedtime or medecine time - but when your poor ear looks like this, it's to be expected i suppose:

after some drops, oral antibiotics and a dr visit, she seems tos be doing better.. we still have to keep an eye on her and hopefully it clears up soon, next stop if ER for IV antibiotics, which we hope to avoid at all costs...
