sunday funday

we picked up penelope this am from her sleepover and we were sooo happy to see the little lady! she did great with her grandparents.. went to bed good, only got up once and had a huge poop!  which is aweosme cuz she saved us from having to clean that stuff up!!!  thanks baby girl! :)

she was happy to see us too!!!  and i was excited to enjoy a fun sunday with penelope.  this is our idea of a sunday funday!!!  we played in the am, went to the mall, went out to lunch, came home and played some more and helped mommy get ready for her trip.  which means monday is not going to be a funday.  i leave for my first business trip since penelope was born and i am struggling big time.  not looking forward to going at all.  i'm going to my little family sooo much....i'll write later this week to let you know how i handled it... for now - lets look at my adorable daughter :)

first sleepover

first off - little lady penelope here slept for 13 straight hours on friday night and it was amazing!  it must of been some sort of fluke but it was incredible.  i told kris that it was the first time i have gone a whole night wihtout getting out of bed in over a year.  awesome.  we did however wake up OFTEN to make sure she was okay - but each time onot he monitor she was still sleeping.. except for about 10 mins at 5am when she decided to play, laugh, then pass back out.  awesome.  so we woke up to a very happy penelope!  however, we had to leave the little bits as she was staying with gma and gpa h for her first sleepover while we went to colleen and dave's wedding (well mommy did - daddy had a huge work event - that he rocked :)).  it was soo hard to leave her that am - kris normally does drop off - and damn, drop off sucks.. even harder still cuz of how cute her little legs and bum looked in these tights!

this past week we decided it was probably time for some toys in the tub with penelope when she was taking her bath... she LOVED them.. and may have been a bit greedy with her toys.  still loves a good bath. i love my little water baby.

penelope got invited to her friend brody's second bday party this past saturday.  had to get her lookingn all pretty :)  she had sooo much fun.  there was a nine month old that was all over the place - and she was super intrigued - and flirting.  but her favorite was a little guy just a few weeks older than her.  they sat facing each other and "talked" for about twenty minutes. cutest thing ever.  they were talking, laughing, touching, and then my daugher, classy little thing that she is, decided to start flashing her new friend. which they both thought was sooo funny.  i've raised you well penelope.

tennis anyone?

i have been eyeing this adidas tennis outfit at babies r us for about 3 months now.  it was originally 30 bucks which i was thought was ridiculous, then it was 15 and it evenn got to ten and i decided we didnt need it as summer was pretty much over.  however, last week it was marked down to 3 dollars.  sold.   seeing how cute she looks in it - i probably would have paid 30 :)

once again showing off the goods. penelope - how many times do i have to tell you.  no one will buy the cow if they can get the milk for free. 

dr visit!!! (15 weeks)

we had our four month dr. appt today! (a couple weeks early).  and penelope is doing great. she is still a little thing but growing upward on the curve - which is what the dr likes to see.

stats:

height:  24.25 inches (68th percentile)

weight: 11lb 14oz (25th percentile) mom guessed right exactly!

head: 9th percentile - such a tiny little face :)

dr. norton said she is doing realy well, however by this age 85% of kids are sleeping all night - and that is not the case -s o we are going to work on that.  she said to start feeingn her less at each  nighttime feeding so she becomes less dependant on the middle of the night calories.  so we'll start giving that a try tongith!

we wait to do any rice cereal until after her next appt at 6 months - so right about thanksgiving penelope will be eating too :)

she got shots today as well and did great.  she has a prety high pain threshold i think. she cried but stopped very quickly.  she is tougher than her mom for sure!

she also evaluated her on three other areas.  gross motor skills, fine motor skills, and social skills.

she is above average on her social skills - same thing the PAT lady said lst week.  she is very social, follows conversations, engages with people, knows mom and dad by voice and face, conversates. instead of just noises her voice rises and falls - which is a sign that she is trying to have more of a conversation.  ie - it's intentional and not just random grunts - so we are great there.

fine motor skills - right on track - she is grabbing at things, putting stuff in her mouth, finding her feet/hands, that sort of thing.

however - gross motor skills need some work.  dr. norton said she is very relaxed = which is great but relaxed babies aren't quite as strong.  angrier babies tense more and muscles strentghen and develop faster - so because she is a pretty happy little thing -that is great but can make her kind of lazy.  so working on muscle tone and most importantly her tummy time. penelope HATES this - so this will be good for developing her head and neck and will help with muscle development - an angry baby will push harder of the ground and even roll over from frustration -which we want her to start doing soon.

so - overall - she is doing great - but we have to let her get mad more!  i'm going to make sure the babysitter gets stuck wtih that task :)

baptism! 9_12_2010

well miss penelope  was baptized this past sunday and it went perfect.  penn did amazing and her godparents were awesome.  was soo nice to have all the family there for this special day for penelope.  so many friends and relatives were there and we all had a great time.  penelope slept during most of the ceremony but woke up when the water was on her head.  all she did though was get all wide eyed and just check everything out.  she was soo good! spent a lot of the ceremony staring at and talking to her feet.  her new favorite discovery/toy.  she wore mom's dress for the occasion.  that is over 28 years old and still in perfect shape -thanks to gma d.  penelope looked beautiful in it and made her parents proud.
