penny and payton having a blast at chuck e cheese (but no where near chuck e you will notice. scared the crap out of her today)

negotiations....

EVERYTHING is a negotiation lately.  and no, i'm not talking about my job where i actually do that.

i'm talking about at home... with my 2 yr old.

and i never win.

i'm going to start bringing her to work to deal with the difficult suppliers - she's way better than me.

some examples:

me: penny it's time for bed

penny: um... mom... what do you say i go to bed in about 20 hours? how bout that? okay good.

_____________________________________________________________

me: penny, let's go sit on the potty.

penny: mom i would but i'm just not ready yet. i'll probably be ready when i'm three.  or thursday.

________________________________________________________________

me: penny, you can't have another cookie.

penny: i'm going to count to three.

me; what's gonna happen when you say three

penny: I'm going to be really disappointed in you.  and i'm going to call your mom.

me: my mom will say that i'm the boss because i'm your mommy so you have to listen to me.

penny:  no, your mom will she's disappointed in you for making penny sad and you have to listen to her cuz she's your mom and your boss.  now i want a cookie.

looks like little miss penelope got her wish and she'll be getting a baby sister in a few months :)

she has been prepping so much taking care of baby logan that she's ready to be an wesome helper.

she has also started telling EVERYONE she sees about the baby.

conversation wtih applebee's waitress:

"hi - how are you today"

penny: I'm 2 and 1/2

"that's great"

Penny: did you know there are three girls here?  you can only see 2 but there are three because there is a baby in my mommy's belly

"wow - you are gonna be a big sister"

Penny: yep, my mom is having a baby girl.  and i like dinosaurs. they are cool.  my favorite is a t-rex. we are going to get a dinosaur book at the library.

she has a short attention span :)

helper helper

we have been visiting uncle kyle and aunt mary beth's new house a lot the last couple weeks.

they are moving less than 3 minutes away and we are all so exicted to have famliy closer to us!

the downside?

this house was COVERED in wallpaper.

good thing penelope was there to help.

no i'm serious.  it was a good thing. pretty sure she did more work than uncle kyle :)

baby 2

well it's no secret that penelope is very excited to be a big sister soon.  and she even got to come to the dr. with mommy this week to be part of the action first hand!

i had been sick all week and had my first mommy freak out and asked if we could go into the dr for a heartbeat check.  I never did that with penelope but something but maybe you just get crazier with age.

anyway - all is fine on the baby front and penny thought it was pretty cool to meet my dr and hear the heartbeat.

we started by telling her she had to be VERY quiet and talk in her inside voice, just like at jesus's house.  she took this incredibly serious.  did nothing but whisper the entire hour we were there.  even when teh dr. came in and was talking in a normal voice to her she would only respond in whispers.  she did get out her normal voice to make sure he knew it was a girl though.

when he said "are you excited to have a brother or a sister?" she responded "it's a girl".  very matter of fact with a very serious face. in fact she is starting to get very short and angry with anyone who says otherwise...

she really enjoyed hearing the heartbeat and had a huge smile on her face on the whole.

that night when i was putting her to bed i asked her what the heartbeat sounded like. she responded "perfect". she really is going to be the best big sister.

she was excellent at the dr. and pretty much obsessed with babies the rest of the day.

she asked me later that evening... "hey mom, does the baby have arms yet?"  when i told her that it did she started cheering "yeah mom!! that's great! i'm so proud of you for growing arms!"

every pregnant lady loves a little credit.

thanks penners :)

Thank you!.... I think???

penelope has a weird way of giving compliments...

some recent gems:

"i love you mommy. and i love you daddy.. but i love me the best"

"mommy you pretty.  but i'm prettier"

"aunt lizzie, you love me first.  but i just love you third"

umm... thanks??

08 February 2013

jump! jump!

i've said it before, and i'll say it again... best present ever.

we've been on a bounce house kick lately... pretty much just leaving it up in the living room - to the delight of penelope!

04 February 2013

finally!!!

penelope was a later jumper.  i know right?  weird "skill" to be late at.  but she has been skipping around and calling it jumping for about a year.  a few months ago she started doing a few froggy jumps on the ground, but still never jumping OFF anything

until she discovered her love of the stage. lately she has been adament that we watch her "show"

she gets on the stage (fireplace) where she proceeds to introduce herself "ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, welcome to the penny dance show"

then does a "trick" (usually twirling)

then she instructs you to clap while she does an amazing bow.

we see maybe 9 of these "shows" a night.

well, she finally decided to up the ante of the trick and jump OFF the stage.

it was brillance i tell you.  pure brillance.

the raw talent of this girl amazes me.

prepping for the big moment

getting into position (this position can be held for about 3 minutes while she works up the nerve)

and the big JUMP!  10!!!

pretty

some days she just strikes me how pretty she is.  and then i get my camera.

snow day

every little kid in their snow gear looks like ralphie from "a christmas story".  love it.

we only lasted about an hour and it takes probably at least 1/2 that long to get her dressed... but she had fun and i'm glad we finally come some good snow this year!! (even it was all gone by the next day with 60 degree weather)

random thoughts...

some of my favs from penny lately:

she has been sooo sweet with me as I've been sick these past 8 or so weeks.  she rubs my head when i'm on the couch, whispers while she plays if i fall asleep, and alwasy says "it's okay mommy. you'll feel better when the baby comes out. then you be back to yourself" :)

she always asks EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. if the "baby come out of your belly yet?" and "does your baby have arms yet?"  I made the mistake of showing her an early ultrasound.  the little blob that was suppossed to pass for a baby has her very concerned that her sibling has no head, arms or legs.  I've assured her that i'm worked hard to grow them :)

"my mommy has a baby in her tummy. it's real deep in there. that's why we can't see it"

at dinner one night we were talking about potty training and going on the potty. in typically penny form she ignored us until about ten minutes later when she says "I dont need to pee in a big girl potty. I peeing right now. Hey - i pooping right now too" (all while at the dinner table  - classy girl)

if we are walknig up the stairs and I walk up faster than her... "hey! you forgot something! you forgot me - penny hoffman! dont forget penny hoffman!"

when i tell her - "you are my favorite little girl". she responds with "you are my favorite big mommy". um... thank you?? i think?

she is very lovey lately. tells kris and I all the time how much she loves us - and it's pretty freaking awesome.

driving home from school one day I told her that mommy has a headache.  she responds "i have a headache too mommy. right here in my chest"

we have been watching way too much tv at dinner and i'm trying to get penelope to pay attention and have a conversation with us at dinner.  so i told her we were turning the tv off and we were going to talk about the best parts of our day. I started by asking her "penny- what was your favorite part of your day?"  her immediate response "my favorite part of my day was when you let me watch that tv"  well played.

she is VERY sensitive.  has a hard time getting reprimanded and usually means she gets her feelings hurt. when she does she usually cries and her go to thing to say is "that's not very nice to me. you shouldnt say mean things to your kids." (there is a gabba episoe about not saying mean things to yoru friends... she has turned that into a lecture for us whenever we say mean things - aka telling her no).

penny is constantly talking about all the things she is going to do when she's older.  her favorite way to start a conversation like that is "when i get to grown up"  like "grown up" is a place.  "when i get to grown up i'll have big holes in my ears" (earrings).  "when i get to grown up i'll drink coffee and wine like mommy" (i swear i'm not drinkign it pregnant - quit judging) :)

sorry for a blog dumb with no photos but every once in  a while like to capture some of the awesomeness that is my little monster :)

snowy sunday :)

snowy pics coming soon... but wanted to share these.

cookies and hot chocolate after playing in the snow - now that's a sunday!

a little quiet around here...

you may have noticed it's been a little quiet around the old blog lately.  in fact until today I haven't posted in almost a month - i think a took record LOW of pictures of January.

but i do have a really good excuse... I'm pregnant!
Coming August 2013 will be baby h number 2!!!  Or as Penny  has suggested "baby princess penny" for a girl or "baby daddy" for a boy.  I mean both names are keepers for sure :)

this time around I've been just as sick with penny, if not even more so, and i spend most of the day throwing up, trying to not throw up, or just trying to keep my eyes open.

i'm hoping i'm out of the rough part soon as first trimester is officially over tomorrow... fingers crossed that february, 2nd trimester and apparently an early spring according to phil, will bring some changes in this house! preferrably a mommy who can function on a daily basis and go more than 4 hours without throwing up.

i might even start blogging again :)

my little gymnast

she's a natural.
