penelope LOVEs to play hide and seek now.. anything from a pillow, to a napkin, to a sock can be used to cover her eyes or yours.. and she will either find you or help you find her!!!

when did this happen? 8 months.

i have no words.  well that's not true - i really do have words and you'll get to see them all (typos and everything).

but honestly, i really can't believe my littel girl is 8 months old.  i dont even know what to say about that.  it sounds sooooo OLD. You know how certain ages just sound old to you.  28 for example. 28 sounds sooo much older than 27. Something about the 7.  sounds young and carefree.  maybe it's the same thing with 8 months.  8 is just an old sounding number.  i dont care for it...

however... i will give you the 8 month scoop anyway!

Stats: Chunky Monkey!  On her 8 monht bday - 17 lbs 12 oz.  and getting waaayy to heavy to lug around in that carseat - as soon as it's warm - it's big girl carseat time!  I can't wait.  i hate that damn thing.

Eating..well she pretty much eatsa nything.  is VERY into finger foods and not soo into baby purees anymore. she stil likes them all but wants finger foods at every meal - and does this lovely little temper tantrum until she gets some puffs, yogurt melts or blueberries.  Those are her favorite foods - blueberries and yogurt.  healthy at least i suppose!  we have been making our own baby food purees, but it might be time to make stuff a bit thicker now - the kid wants to pick up her food and it - screw this mashed up soft food stuff.  she's over it.  she'll eat anything she can grab.  nothing is safe.  she will just sick her hand in the bowl or grab food right out of your end.  we can her a little bite of my donut the other day.. and when i wasnt looking she ninja'd the rest out of my hand. serioulys.  once minute it was in my hand - 3 seconds later in her mouht - it's impressive really...

other new foods this month:  cottage cheese, cheddar cheese, tomatoes, pizza crust, pita bread and rice. 

loves it all.

sleep... sleeping is interesting lately... we have finally put bumpers in the bed - littel miss rolly polly doenst just stay on her back anymore and all the flopping around usually leads to a hand or a foot or even an entire leg stuck in the bed slats.. so we remedied that situation.

however, she has decided she likes to sleep on her belly.. and not just on her belly but face down with her mouth smashed into the mattress.. not something mommy likes. it's terrifying. so now i have to sneak in her rooom all the time to see if she is breathing.  good times.  i try to turn her head, but hse'll scream for a bit, roll around and only settle down agian once she gets back on her belly, face down in the mattress....

active!  well the kid is mobile... not all the way crawling but rolling and scooting everywhere!  she gets her butt up in the air and her knees under her, but htne gets stuck. she she prefers to roll and eat everything she can grab.. time to baby proof.

she is always start to use toys for their intended use.  like sh ewill help me brush my hair.  she will put "cookies" in her cookie jar, she can put a puzzle piece back (only the easy circle one- but still).

she can entertain herself soo much longer this way!!! and it's so fun to watch her little brain wrok..

okay -so i lied i have tons of words.

but seriously 8 months?  that is just crazy. slow down little girl!

Personalized Baby Bibs

My aunt now makes bibs and personalizes them!  You can pick your own fabric and they are reversible - cotton on one side and terry cloth on the other!  Below is one she did for penelope.  She did a "P" initial on one side and full name on the other.  let me know if you are interested!!!

the many faces of eating penelope...

1. "The elvis lip". This face is likely to appear when baby is getting ready to yell for more food.  Starts as an angry face, turns into an elvis lip, then tears/screams for add'l blueberries will follow.

2.  "The big eyes face"..  Ahh... the well honed "i have big blues eyes give me anything i want face"  usually arrives when baby is begging for what you are you eating... could be pizza crust, could be a donut.  this face is impressive... and effective.

3. " Forlorn Penelope." The cheeky pout.  One of my all time favorites.  I am angry that I have not been given what i wanted. I am sad you tried to make me eat green beans.  and i'm storing food for the winter in my cheeks.

4. "Crap" This is, quite literally, the crap face.  I am currently pooping and eating.  Be impressed.

happy birthday daddy!

we celebrated daddy's birthday last week and penelope was the best helper ever.

she made him a homemade card - with finger paint! (most of which she ate - dont worry- non toxic).

then helped blow out the candles!

after that - went downhill.  in order to make daddy's bday memorable, penelope decided to have the worst night ever.  no sleep at all, miserable, sick, unhappy baby.  we drove around for an hour, rocked her for hours, brought her in bed with us, tried everything we coudl think of... turns out that an ear infection, sinus infection and teething dont make for a good mix.

however, she is much better now.  got some meds from the doctor and will hopefully get this little lady all better soon!!!

i like food.

well - we are officially on to finger food.  and penelope has caught on soo quickly. she spent about two days yelling at me when she couldnt get a puff in her mouth fast enough... but after that she caught on and figured she better learn if she wants immediate puff satisfaction.

talking about food is funny.  that's cuz i love food.

fingers are almost as good as food.

everyone needs to enjoy a little quality naked time... penelope just chooses to spend hers in front of the camera.  when you have a butt like this one - why not share it with the world! :) (she's going to hate me for this when she is about 9. hehehe).

well she finally did it!

such a big girl now! and much more dangerous... i think it is getting closer and closer to babyproofing time...

how i get into my skinny jeans.

Step 1: put on my new workout gear (thanks uncle jeff and aunt christa)

step 2: work on my fitness. A few good squats should do the trick.

step 3: whew. need a breather after that workout.

step 4: wiggle into the skinnny jeans...

Step 5: stretch em out... uggghhh... this is hard work

quit growing up so fast young lady! this is getting ridiculous!

7 months old - seriously?

how on earth did that happen?

right now you are sitting on my lap chatting up a storm... and i still can't believe you are such a big girl..

let's get down to it.

7 month stats:

i dont know length but at the dr. on friday for a check up (sinus infection) you were 16 lbs 7 oz!

i almost feel like you have a become this "grown up" baby lately. it's weird. you aren't a baby-baby anymore. you have some control over what you do and what you want and where your body moves... and you are LOVING your new found independence. you are very strong willed about what you what, who you want and where you want to be. all the milestones are coming soo fast and so furious now...

you can FINALLY roll over both ways - back to front and front to back and now mommy and daddy are getting a little more serious about baby proofing.. with all the wiggling and rolling you do - you will be mobile in no time.

not too into crawling yet but you just seem to look more confident all time -s o who knows when you'll just go.

you are an awesome sitter- do a really good job by yourself and when laid on your back you want to try and get up all the time - you are getting some great ab workouts in young lady!

and when you want something you wiggle and move and toss that little body around to get it.. sometimes we just watch you... it's pretty impressive.

oh - and the talking! lately you never shut up! such a chatty little cathy we have and we love it. lots and lots of baby babbles and you have just started to accompany all the yells, squeals and noises with the baba sounds. soooo cute.

just this morning you woke up at 5 am and spent 30 minutes talking to yourself in your crib, then went back to sleep.

you seem to be enjoying your new found vocabulary!

your eating is such a little grown up baby as well... you are liking bottles less and less and cups more and more (although you need some help with the cups).

you are eating finger foods - puffs, cereal, bread, yogurt bites - and eating all the major baby foods now - veggies, fruit, meat.

although -you are still a picky little girl. not a huge fan of the fruit and you HATE all green veggies... also you have figured out how to throw up on command.

so that's awesome :)

overall its been another amazing month full of daily changes from penelope.

its' amazing to watch the little person she is becoming.. which is more and more stubborn.

we love everything about your baby personality and can't wait to find out even more!

i'm sure there will be some new trick you know by tonight!
