water baby!

darci just shared some old but good photos from a fun pool party day at our subdivision pool with all the kiddos... they are so cute i wanted to post!

and since it's freezing today... remind myself we will back in the pool one fo these days!

penelope LOVED swimming this summer... she loves the water, lloves the pool, and loves "jumping" in.

on this day - all the "big kids" were jumping and penny wanted to join.

I love that she is like 10 seconds behind. And her jump is more like a victory cheer where she throws her arms up and sort of falls in.

but its freaking cute :)



who's lynn?

kris's mom called to see if I was feeling better last night.  penny and I heard kris' end of the conversations

"yeah, lynn's feeling better"

penny looked around for a minute then says, "lynn? who's lynn? why she better?  hey mommy, is lynn you  friend?"

and because i was tired, lazy and still a little sick, I answered "yes baby".

this girl is getting so creative.  during dinner she yells, "hey look - it's a butterfly"

i should be made that she is playing with her food ( i use "food" lightly here as it's mcdonalds), but instead i'm impressed. it definitely does look like a butterfly!

and my new favorite.. penelope has been telling us funny secrets that she whispers in our ear, then leans back to see our face/reaction, then laughs hysterically.

the most common secret: "bananapants"

and i find it hilarious everytime.

sick

so we have been sick around our house. penelope had the stomach flu over the weekend... and shared it with me... been a fun week for daddy :)

penny is an excellent sick kid.. pretty happy, still plays, likes to cuddle, just plain good at being sick.

me, on the other hand - i'm terrible at it.  and i'm always convinced i'm sicker than i've ever been and than anyone else has ever been.  

i think i was right this time.. this flu was HORRIBLE.

so i didnt get to spend much time wiht my penny and she was pretty good about it. daddy explained that mommy was sick and needed to rest, so she would often kneel about ten feet way and say, "i'll just kneel right here and watch mommy.. just in case"

if that doesnt make you want to just squeeze her...

then, at bedtime one time she told me, "you can use my backup puppy since you sick".  she proceeded to bring me her backup pink puppy and even showed me the right way to rub his tail between my fingers.

the next morning she woke up and asked me if i felt better from her "magic kisses and backup puppy"

the only answer to that questions is YES.

she can be a stinker sometimes, but the amazing sweetness always wins out.

imagination

i love her imagination.

notice that everything has some sort of fairytale in it lately... if there isnt a pricness, then there is at least a happily ever after :)

oh.. and she is still wearing her princess halloween costume and referring to herself as 'the princess'

halloween part 2 - love for baby logan

the girl has the makings of an excellent big sister... too bad she'll have to settle for excellent big cousin for now.

pretty pretty princess

well it finally arrived! penelope has been talking about halloween for weeks and she was soo excited it was finally here. and so excited that her dress was done!! - thanks grandma d!!!

 

she told us a long time ago that she wanted to be a "magic, pink, sparkly princess"

 

and grandma complied.

 

and if i do say so myself, she was the worlds cutest magic, pink, sparkly princess!

 

 

we had a great halloween - the family all come over, baby logan made an appearance at his first outing, and penelope got to go trick or treating with her neighboorhood friends - peyton, millie and declan.

 

overall a great halloween..one that penny is sad is over... but as she has worn her dress every day since - i think halloween will live on in our house... what a change from last year!!!

 

now - just 362 more days of hearing this... "hey mom, guess what??"  "what penny?" "is it halloween yet??"

 

lord help me.

pretty

i know we all think our kids are cute... i mean i dont a parent in the world that would admit theirs is ugly.  i just dont think we are wired that way.

 

i feel that same way. i think penelope is the prettiest little girl i have ever seen. but i will be the first to admit she makes some faces, has some moods, or has some hair days... that just dont have her looking her best... you will notice i delete those photos and they never make the blog...

 

however.. some days i am just struck by how damn gorgeous this little girl is.  any pretty much just awestruck that she's ours. and that we could make some that amazing and perfect and just so beautiful.

 

today was one of those days.. so i took a million pictures.  and here hair is a mess, and she has a runny nose and she is wearing half clothes/half pjs... but she looks perfect to me.

penelope recently welcomed her second cousin into the world - baby logan patrick!!!

 

she was there at the hospital when he was born and was able to see him in the nursery - but this was her first time seeing him in person!!

 

and her first time seeing both mary beth AND logan together.  at the hosptial she just saw logan but no mary beth... so she was VERY confused and pretty worried about what had happened to mary beth.  when we visited a second time and logan was in the nicu, she was too young to go back there so she just saw mary beth... then was confused that logan was back in her belly...

 

based on her first couple visits it was easy to see why she was confused - it seemed to be a trade.. you can have mary beth OR logan.

 

so when we visited thursday and she saw BOTH - she was one happy camper :)

 

and one AWESOME older cousin :)

 

 



fun surprise!

we couldnt resist the amazing weather today and headed out early to grants farm.  as we were pulling in to park we saw the q family - tom/ellen/dono and reese walking across the bridge.

 

yelled out the window, decided to meet up, and penelope was one VERY happy camper to see her friends.  we stayed for a long time - about 3 hours - def our longest grants farm trip and the kids had a blast.... love watching penny and dono play... as penny gets older and can play WITH other kids instead of just by them, it's hilarious to watch what they talk about..

 

penny thinks dono is awesome.  so basically everytime he says something.. wait five seconds and penny will say the EXACT same thing.  it's pretty cute..
