mommy love

I've been getting some good mommy love lately - and right in time for mother's day :)

 

I have even been getting her to semi-cooperate for some mommy/penny photos.   and every mom knows those are a rarity with their kiddos.

penny's special night

Penelope has been SOOO excited for her "special night" for a couple of weeks.  her school does an end of yr program and her class was going to be singing a song on stage.  and as she told me, "it not at school, it's the church! and its a surprise song for my mom and dad"

 

she wouldn't sing the song ahead of time, but she told me all about how this was going to go down.  according to penny when we got to the church she would go in a room with ms kaycie and I would go to my seat without her, but i'd be okay cuz i'd see her soon (can you tell they were prepping the two yr olds??).  then she would sing a song and afterwards everyone would cheer and clap.  but paw paw dulle would cheer the loudest and yell "go penny".  (gotta say - the girl knows her paw paw) :)

 

now I wasn't really sure if she would perform... she gets nervous normally right before when she has to be away from me and I expected a meltdown... we had a couple issues in the car and a small nervous moment at the church, but it was nothing that a few orange tic tacs couldn't fix and then it was perfect :)

 

you couldn't hear a word but I could tell she was singing and she clearly knew all the words and all the movements.  and it was adorable.

 

she also really enjoyed her special day.  both grandmas and pawpaws came over before, she got flowers and she got to stay up extra late and go out to dinner with us.  she commented over and over about her special day and how excited she was :)

 

poor little kid is in for a rude awakening here in a couple of months, so better let her enjoy it now :)

the sprinkler is back out!

even though my seven month pregnant ankles aren't a fan of this heat... a certain little girl and her dog are pretty pumped that it's sprinkler weather again!

random happenings....

penny has been dressing herself some mornings... she calls it princess fairy. we called it stripper fairy:

 

 

 

she also now puts on her own makeup.... we are working on the "less is more" concept.

 

 

 

 

we've also been hard at work on the baby room... sneak peek of the work in progress below....

"my kid"

recently penny and i were at the grocery store and ran into donovan and reese's mommy... this prompted a discussion in the car about the time pink puppy was lost and how donovan and reese came over one day to play and we found them.

 

penny told she wanted to "write them a thank you note for finding puppy and post it to them"

 

she we did jsut that.  she told me exactly what to write.  i wish i had remembered to take a picture of the letter before i sent.  however, i do remember it completely.

 

it went like this:

 

"Dear Donovan and Reese, your friend is writing you a thank you note.  Thank you for finding my kid. Pink puppy is my kid. love penny"

 

 

she then told me that you should always write thank you notes to peopel who find your kids when they are lost.  i'd have to agree!

 

since he's been found, pink puppy has been becoming more and more a part of our life. he helps with things, he has feelings, he takes baths, plays fetch....

 

we sure do love you pink pup a lup :)

 



dinner buddies

penelope is getting lots of big sister practice with her baby cousin logan...

 

i lvoe watching them play together... hopefully she is this interested/excited when she realizes the next baby in her life is living with us - and not just visiting for a few hours at a time :)

 



it's finally open!!

penelope asks about once a week to go to grants farm - and last week we were finally able to say yes!

 

she LOVES it there and wanted to get straight to the goats....

 

 

 

from there we hit the caroseul a few times...

 

 

 

 

watched a bird show...

 

 

 

and then visited the newest grant's farm attraction - camel rides!

 

turns out they dont let 6 month pregnant women on the camels - so daddy joined penny for this one..

 

she was in heaven - no hesitations, hopped up on ruby the camel and had a blast...

 

 

 

 

 

and was pretty proud of herself when she was done :)

 

 

 

 

glad to see you back in business grant's farm!!!  can't wait for many more trips this year!!!

 



owie...

penny got her first black eye last weekend... althougth she never actually KNEW she had a black eye

she threw SUCH a fit about the scratch on her knew that i wasnt about to let her see the black eye that started later that night.

after all the black eye drama, so fell asleep watching tv mid afternoon for pretty much the first time ever.  she has been kind of a pain about naps on the weekends and instead of fighitng with her about it, her falling asleep late and then staying up too late, we have just been enforcing quiet time with a movie.

we started out thinking that she would just fall asleep, but that has NEVER happened.  until the black eye incident.  turns out taking a nasty fall and screaming about it 45 mins will wear a girl out :)
