monkey joes

well.. i've been single mommy this week and holy crap it's hard. kris flew straight from ft meyers to napa for a work trip (yeah right :)) and i went home to stl with penny.

i have to say - wow - soo exhausting. with penny having alreadyy been sick for a week, she has been unbelievably clingly to mommy. add it being out of town and her schedule was all throw off.. so it made for a rough week in florida and week back in stl. pretty mcuh spent the last 10 days with a baby either screaming, attached to me, or screaming AND attached to me.

good times :)

however... we did manage to find some fun time in between the chaos (i.e - dropping her off at daycare in the am! wow - that kid can scream... and make you feel HORRIBLE).

we had a couple dates out to lunch, went to breakfast at bread co.. and hit up monkey joes yesterday with mom's friend val and penny's friend lily...

the girls are sort of rough around each other. neither of them is old enough yet for playing together and both are a bit rough so made for an interesting tirp :)

they actually did pretty good - a few tears from each of them, but they did great on the bouncy stuff and were REALLY well behaved at applebees... as long as they are seated across from each other and out of arms reach..we found no one hurt each other :)

not the greatest pictures.. they were falling over on the bouny stuff most of the time so it's a bit difficult to get any good photos...

Vacation - Ft Meyers Florida - 12-19 July 2011

well... vacation wasn't exactly what we had planned...

it started out great... penny was awesome on the flight... even during a delay leaving stl. and she spent the majority of the flight to ft meyers listening to yo gabba gabba on her headphones..

she was awesome when we got there as well.. we went to the ocean late the first night - about 5:30 and weren't sure how penny would react... but she loved it!

no fear of the sand (thanks to her crocs from gma and gpa d) and she also just ran right in - we actaully had to run to catch her... she was great1

sometime late that evening... it all changed... she woke up with a super high fever - about 103 and was miserable.. this continued most of saturday - fever not going below 101 until mommy and daddy spent a third sleepless night and decided time for dr. we found an urgent care on sunday am and spent about 4 hours there to leave loaded up with drugs... double ear infections, chest cold, fever, and some dehydration made for a not happy baby. we basically spent most of the vacation in the condo laying on the bed with penny watching yo gabba gabba OVER and OVER again and gtrying to get to sleep and drink. luckily the view from the room was the beach so we could at least SEE and HEAR the ocean...

we each got out a little bit on monday. my mom hung out in the room while penny napped so i spent abotu 2.5 hours on the beach and kris got to golf. we also got out that evening for a ltitel bit too - just the kids with gparents watching penny...

and we did get one morning on the beach with penny after she was loaded up on antibiotics, motrin, numbing drops, etc... seh spent about an hour playing on the beach bright and early - i think it was only 7 am so we were teh only ones there :)

so - long story short - not what we had in mind for vacation.. but seeing how well penny did before she was sick, i think we'll give the beach a tryy again... kris and i just need a year break before that happens :)

thanks grandpa and grandma d for an awesome trip - sorry penny sort of ruined it for everyone. we cant wait to go back again... when penny is a bit older! :)
