well i can't believe but my baby is 3 months old already. a quarter of a year. that is insane. how did she get so big! it's been a pretty busy and exciting month for penelope - i feel like she has changed and grown so much....once again - the monthly updates are long! (mainly intended for aunts/uncles and gparents)
eating: she is still eating about the same as before: 4-5 ozs every 3 or 4 hours - we tried to move up nipples to the number 3s but they just get her too frustrated - so we are going to wait a bit longer for that. i think it's more that she is lazy than that she cant' do it. all the eating is definately porking her up tough! she has crazy cankles, no wrists and 18 chins. and i love them all! :)
sleeping: this one is back and forth. on one hand she still gets up quite a bit. every 4 hours or so at night - but she gets up cuz she hungry and she doesnt weigh that much - so we can't just let her cry it out. she does do a good job of just getting up, eating, burping and going back to back. so - on the other hand - we really can't complain. the kid does a GREAT job going to sleep. you can put her in there awake or slightly awake and she puts herself to sleep. we very rarely have to go in there because she can't get tosleep. usually we set her in bed and then in a few minutes she is out. eats her hands, kicks around and talks herself to sleep. same in the middle of the night - never have to go back in after a feeding and comfort her - she does a great job with that. napping is doing good too. if she is at home on weekends she does a nice long mornign nap for about 2-3 hours in her swing and then a couple hour afternoon nap. at the sitter it hink she sleeps less in the am because there is more going on and she is nosy!
pacifer: this is a new category in my updates. penelope is currently OBSESSED with her paci. if it falls out she screams. she is trying very vey hard to get it back in lately - but she just can't seem to figure it out. we try and put her to bed without it becuase if she goes to bed with it - it makes for a LONG night of making her happy by putting it back in. she is a crazy baby for her paci.
hands and feet: penelope has also found her hands and feet this month. and she is a huge fan of both of them. with her hands she just shove them in her mouth any chance she gets. not just a few fingers either. it's the whole hand each time. she acutually chokes herself a lot by shoving it sooo far back in her mouth. it's kind of awesome. and she just found her feet a couple days ago. i put shoes on her a few times (more on that later) and she just kept staring at them. ever since she realized how much she loves her feet. like serioulsy loves them. but she gets super pissed and grunts a lot because seh can't reach them. she bends as far forward as she can and then yells when she can't get to them. we try and help - but she just isnt that bendy yet.
fashion: um - still a fashion queen. kid has soo many clothes and rocks them all. and we are finally able to fit into some shoes. i have to say they can really make an outfit and baby can rock a pair of sandals. she has new boots from gma h - so i had to go buy her skinny jeans to wear wtih them. i can't wait for this fall - she has tons of cute jeans to wear with cardigan and blazers. now i just need a little white tee. anyone know where you can get baby vneck tshirts? i'm not kidding. this is a serious question. here is a pic of penelope rocking some sweet shoes - and her just realizing she has feet. could not get eye contact from this kid. was obsessed.
words: no words yet obvioulys - but she is a chatty cathy lately! penelope LOVES to talk - especially in the morning. she is proving to be more and more of a morning baby. when you get her up she is smiley and happy as can be all the time. sometimes it's 3 am -b ut she never fails to wake up happy. and that's when she does her best talking. we usually just sit down and talk about her night, what she dreamed about, any boys shes likes, etc :) she also really likes when you make her lips vibrate - by patting her mouth or running your finger over them - she makes lots of noise and opens her mouth super wide so that she can help you.
kisses: penelope has become a kissing queen lately. if you make noises as you go in for kisses she opens her mouth right before you get there - and occasionally slips you the tongue. we are talking to her about that.
travels: we have been getting out and about more lately now that the weather is nice - she has rode the train at grants farm, been on a picnic, to a wedding, a bunch of birthday parties - she is popular. i think she might be invited more places than us.
playtime: penelope LOVES her activity mat. she is getting really good at following object (toys or us) and can reach out for things - swats at them more than actually grabs but does a good job. she likes to hold onto stuff in her carset - either her paci or a sock monkey or her rings. and she has recently discovered that she is very vain. this baby loves the mirror. she will look into forever! on her mat she just looks up and flirts with herself. sometimes she is super smiley, sometiems she talks to herself in the mirror, sometimes she is shy baby. but any mirror, any time and penn is happy. she has a few other loves as well - all fans. any room we go in to she looks up and stares at the fan. if it's on - she is happy and engaged for a while. if it's off - she seems kind of annoyed. she will stare at it for a bit - then get kind of pissed. she also is excited by the television. at night she sits on laps and just stares at the tv with that little bobble head. it's our unwinding time.
head: her head and neck control is getting to be sooo good. we are super proud of her with that head. it'sa little wobby - like a penelope bobble head but she is getting soo good! i have parents as teachers coming by this fridayy so thhey can give us a good idea of how on track she is and how she is doing! she has been using her bumbo a lot lately too - here is a picture from her playdate with lily.
well - that's probably about all for now. penelope is getting more interactive and more fun every day. it's amazing how much she has changed from this little tiny 6 lb baby who sleeps all day long to an 11 lb chunker who smiles, talks, plays with toys and is just plain awesome. i can't tell you how many times a day either kris or myself will just say, "she's awesome".
